..´General Secretariat


The General Secretariat (Articles 38 to 41 of TM80) is the technical body of the ALADI. It carries out the diverse day-to-day work of the Association by proposing, evaluating, studying and managing, in order to achieve better the objectives of the Association. Secretariat staff is integrated by technical and administrative personnel with the Secretary-General at its head, supported by two Deputy Secretary-Generals. All these authorities are elected for a three year term, with the possibility of being reelected for three more years.

In the Fourteenth Meeting of ALADI Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs, through Resolution Nr. 63, Emb Hugo Saguier Caballero was appointed ALADI Secretary-General for the term 2008-2011. He will take on this position on March 20th, 2008.

Mission

Consolidation of an efficient organization, which contributes with the enlargement and deepening of Latin American integration.

Develop the capability of always adapting itself to regional and international dynamics. Therefore, propitiate higher functional specialization, adequate rules and processes to the partners needs, improve empowerment and relationship among all members and look forward to institutional coordination with other organizations.

Give technical support to the member-countries in order to facilitate their negotiations, satisfy their demands and propose alternatives according to their interests and expectations, looking forward to deepening regional integration, aiming the economical and social development of Latin America
